THE STORY
- The ladies of Minnesota shed a collective tear Monday, as news broke local boy and Minnesota Twins catching heartthrob Joe Mauer is now officially off the market.
After dating for about a year and a half, Joe Mauer dropped to one knee and proposed to girlfriend Madeline Bisanz (she also goes by Maddie). Most reports indicate that while the couple has been together for about a year and a half, they have known each other much longer, since they both attended Cretin-Derham Hall High School, a private Catholic school in St, Paul Minnesota.
Reports say that the two were engaged in Sanibel, FL, near Joe's Fort Myers home where he spends his offseasons. Mauer spoke to the Pioneer Press of the engagement:
“I was hoping for a yes, and she said yes. I’m getting to marry my best friend."
When asked if married life would change him, Mauer resonded:
"No. (Maddie's) the one who got me through last year. If anything, she's going to make me better. We were really close (friends) in '09, too."
Maddie works as a nurse in the St. Paul area. No wedding date has been announced.
